OK...
I'm sure by glancing at my tribe name, you understand my plight. I have been Ultraviolet for over a decade... I've been creating a comic based on the alter-ego psychological battle between my two super-hero personalities Ultraviolet and Infrared (see my pics) with the help of dear friends that also have created alter -ego superhero characters... I sign my paintings ultraviolet, my wearable creations, email newsletters for my Burning Man community... and now I have some sci-fi flop that comes along and pilfers it!
It kinda wigs me out a little that Mila's character in the movie also has long dark hair dyed purple. It bums me out that now my name is instantly associated with this movie and I can no longer use my stories in a published fashion without the association or some lame legal battle.
I asked a friend the other day: "How would you feel if your alter ego and chosen moniker has been Neo for over a decade, complete with your short stories, signatures, etc., and then The Matrix comes out? Better yet, The Matrix comes out, but it's called NEO?
I'm just hoping the movie dies quickly so I can have my name back...

Re: What to DO when some cheeseball movie steals your NAME?
Sun, March 5, 2006 - 1:12 AMThis movie will die quickly. There is so much wrong with this movie it boggles the moviegoing mind. My entire row ranged from stifling giggles to laughing uproariously. If any move in recent memory deserves the MST3K treatment, its this one. -

Fri, March 10, 2006 - 8:32 AMAgree with Ever, the film is toast, I doubt its memory will persist beyond March. I don't say that to diminish your plight, and regardless you got options.
do what any superhero would do-- Throw down, right the wrong. Reclaim your identity, you could write it into a story (just use Infrared instead of Ultraviolet to avoid legal wrangling) someone steals her identity for a piece of crap direct to video pile of sci-fi dross and she wreaks havoc on the corporate identity thieves to reclaim herself.
I think we can all appreciate your situation which, while unfortunate is far from hopeless. The real Ultraviolet will arise from these trials stronger than ever while the copycat languishes in the .99 bin at a Blockbuster near you

Re: What to DO when some cheeseball movie steals your NAME?
Tue, September 19, 2006 - 6:54 AMI deal with this sometimes as well.
for about 6 years or so, there is a musician in LA who is confused.... and wants to use the name warriorgirl.
I am the original, (that's why its been placed here as THE ORIGINAL) and if it really became something important, I would take some action. Other things, where it's come up are usually people who are just trying to illustrate something. i am flattered by the fact that the name is popular and has entered into the subconscious of others. Its the collective consciousness reflecting your identity, and that's not a bad thing. But if it became a real issue, keep track of the length of time you can document the use of this name by you.
hope that helps.
(the original) warrior girl
